Andrea DiPalma Yansane
November 25, 2025

This December, students in grades 1-5 have an exciting opportunity to explore the vibrant rhythms of Guinea, West Africa! From December 3rd-17th (3:30-4:30 pm), dedicated teaching artist Andrea DiPalma Yansane from the West African Cultural Arts Institute will lead three weeks of small-group drumming classes on the beautiful Oakhill School campus (near LCC).

Through hands-on instruction, students will learn proper drumming technique while discovering how individual parts interweave to create a powerful rhythmic orchestra-all rooted in Guinea's rich musical traditions.

Andrea DiPalma Yansane brings exceptional expertise to this program. As co-founder of the West African Cultural Arts Institute, she has devoted nearly seven years to studying and performing traditional Guinean drumming, dance and culture in West Africa. Since 2000, she has shared this knowledge with youth and adults throughout our community, partnering with organizations including the Oak Hill School Summer Enrichment, Lane Arts Council, H.O.N.E.Y Inc, Blaq Youth, Inc and the 4J BEST program.

Spaces are limited for this unique cultural learning experience so register asap!
